Truths to Remember and Pray in Your War Room

Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

We are in a battle every day. Our lives, and the lives of our families and friends are a war zone. Awareness of the battle at hand is vital. When you enter in prayer, you are entering your own war room, wherever that might be. Be armed with the truth of God’s Word and the power of His Holy Spirit and you can accomplish much in your war room!
10 Truths to Remember & Pray in Your War Room

  1. I AM LOVED: Renew your mind with the truth of God’s love. Sometimes because of everything happening in the world, we may begin to doubt.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

  1. I AM FORGIVEN: Jesus’ blood gives us forgiveness, redemption and makes our relationship with God right again.

“Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:27-28

  1. I AM CHOSEN: That God would use ordinary, broken human beings as vessels of His grace is awe-inspiring. God is proud of how His grace is beating through our imperfect but redeemed lives. The idea that God would use us is amazing because He has other options. He can speak to the world directly but instead he chooses to use broken people like you and me to show His grace to a world in need of redemption.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9

  1. GOD’S WORD IS A LAMP TO MY FEET: We worry, wonder, and ask for wisdom, yet God has given us the precious gift of His Word.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105

  1. WE’VE BEEN GIVEN ARMOR: God has given us the weapons to aid us in the battles we face. God commanded us to be strong in the Lord and we do this with the armor of God. God’s Word, the righteousness of Jesus, readiness with which to speak the gospel, a shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit is freely given to us, but we must learn to use them.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:10-18

  1. THE HOLY SPIRIT INTERCEDES FOR ME: Sometimes tears will freely flow but the words won’t come. There are no words and we feel so lost. Trust that God knows what is in your heart. And it is important to remember that our Heavenly Father provided the Holy Spirit who lives in us to bring comfort and intercede according to the will of God.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27

  1. HE WHO IS IN ME IS GREATER THAN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD: The GOD that is in us is greater than any enemy in the world.

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

  1. THE LORD IS MY HELP: When you are worried and upset, do you turn to God first? What if we started taking our problems to God first? What if we spent more time praying about things than trying to solve them on our own? I am guilty of looking for the “fix” to my issues. I want to be better about going to God. He may or may not fix the problem be He will give me inner peace.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

  1. PRAISE SILENCES THE ENEMY: Sometimes it’s hard to get fears out of my head. Worry seems to take over my day and the negative outweighs the positive. But that is the time to praise God. The enemy will flee when we praise God. We must be intentional to battle the enemy and we must fight for our joy. Choose joy and be intentional in your strategies – that must take priority. Turn on some praise music and start counting your blessings, write them down, and tell God THANK YOU.

“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalm 8:1-3

  1. GOD IS WORKING IT ALL OUT FOR MY GOOD: Pray more, worry less and let your faith be bigger than your fears.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Trust and obey even when you don’t have the words to pray!
