DIY IOD Lemon Drops Transfer Sign

I am absolutely in love with the NEW IOD Lemon Drops transfer. I knew when I saw it, I wanted to make a sign for my kitchen. I started with a 12" x 16" piece of plywood that I painted lightly with an off-white chalk style paint. Next, I used the IOD Distressed stamp and Stone Gray ink to lightly add a little background. I liked the gray but then I thought it needed a pop of color so I used the same Distressed stamp and the NEW IOD Turmeric ink to add more distressing and a little color to the background.

Next, I cut out a piece of the Lemon Drops transfer and applied it to the board. You could stop right there because it's such a beautiful transfer all by itself but I decided to cut out a stencil and applied it to add "Lemon Meringue Pie." I got in a hurry and just pulled the stencil off along with part of the transfer but I didn't mind because I was going for the distressed look anyway. After you apply your transfer to your board, you can apply a sealer to help protect your transfer from lifting if you're going to be adding a stencil like I did. I sanded the whole board with a little extra sanding around the edges and then I added a little Stone Gray ink around the edges.

This was a quick and easy project and I loved how it turned out!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Have a blessed day!
